A large stainless steel pomegranate for hanging, featuring a round mandala in the center in shades of light blue, navy, orange, and pink, with stylized floral motifs. The Home Blessing is written around the mandala, wishing the home light and joy, health and contentment, livelihood, abundance, and success. The pomegranate is made of brushed-finish stainless steel, laser-cut, with a hanging opening in its crown and a colorful print embellished with small crystal stones that sparkle in the light.

The Pomegranate in Jewish Culture
The pomegranate is one of the Seven Species for which the Land of Israel is renowned: “A land of wheat and barley, vines and fig trees and pomegranates.” According to tradition, a pomegranate has 613 seeds, corresponding to the number of commandments, and therefore symbolizes abundance, fertility, and good deeds, in the spirit of the Sages’ words, “Full of mitzvot like a pomegranate.” Golden pomegranates adorned the hem of the High Priest’s robe, and pomegranates decorated the capitals of the pillars in the Temple built by Solomon. On Rosh Hashanah, it is customary to eat a pomegranate and say, “May our merits multiply like the seeds of a pomegranate.” To this day, the pomegranate remains one of the most beloved motifs in Jewish art.
The Tradition of Hanging a Home Blessing
An ancient custom in Jewish communities is to hang a blessing at the entrance to the home, asking for peace, joy, health, and livelihood for everyone who lives there and everyone who enters. The blessing reminds the household, each time they leave and return, of what truly matters, and creates a warm, welcoming atmosphere. That is why a Home Blessing is one of the traditional gifts for a housewarming, a young couple, or a family moving into a new home.
About the Artist Dorit Klein
Dorit Klein is an Israeli Judaica artist, born in Israel to a long-established Jerusalem family. She began painting at a very young age, encouraged by her mother, and worked in commercial graphic design for many years, until her love of Jewish art became her main pursuit. Since 2003, she has designed and created “Dorit Judaica” in a studio in the courtyard of her home in Petah Tikva. Her designs are distinguished by vivid, harmonious colors, precisely laser-cut metalwork, and the incorporation of verses, blessings, and prayers from Jewish sources alongside motifs such as pomegranates, flowers, hamsas, birds, and views of Jerusalem.
