Artist of the Day: Shahar Aharoni – The Man Behind the Jewelry

האמן שחר אהרוני

When looking at a beautiful piece of jewelry, it's easy to forget that there's a person behind it. Someone who sat, thought, sketched, tried, failed, tried again – and finally created something people would want to wear. Shahar Aharoni is that person. A designer, developer, and manufacturer of jewelry since 2005, with a catalog of over 2,000 designs and a presence in markets in Israel and worldwide.

The Beginning – 2005, Two Brothers and a Dream

The story of Israel Gifts begins in 2005. Shahar Aharoni and his brother decided to establish a company for the development, design, and marketing of silver Judaica jewelry. Not out of cold calculation – but out of love. Love for tradition, for art, for Israeli design, and for the idea that jewelry can be more than just an ornament – it can tell a story.

The company grew gradually, built a reputation, and over the years became one of the leaders in the field of Judaica jewelry in Israel. Today, the full collection includes over 2,000 different designs – from faith and Judaica jewelry to high-quality gold and silver jewelry.

Bangkok – Where It All Grew

Shahar's ten years living in Bangkok, Thailand, shaped the main collection of Israel Gifts as it is known today. Bangkok is one of the world's jewelry industry capitals – a city where manufacturers, raw materials, artists, and technology meet in extraordinary density.

There, Shahar established a local company, managed professional teams, participated in international exhibitions, and oversaw the entire processes of developing, manufacturing, and distributing thousands of designs. This was not theoretical learning – it was daily work, direct contact with the material, with production, with customers.

During this period, Shahar developed what he calls "design with depth" – jewelry that combines stones, crystals, and elements from the worlds of Judaica, faith, and Jewish identity. Not design for its own sake, but design that carries meaning.

2,000 Designs – What Does That Mean in Practice?

The number 2,000 designs sounds large – and rightly so. But what does it mean in practice? Each design went through a complete process: initial idea, sketch, prototype, production testing, corrections, final approval. Multiplied by 2,000 – that's years of work, thousands of hours, countless small decisions that add up to an entire catalog.

95% of the 925 silver and steel jewelry on the Israel Gifts website are Shahar's personal designs. When you search for 925 silver jewelry on the site, almost everything you see – Shahar designed it. When you choose steel jewelry – he designed it.

Shahar's expertise focuses on designing jewelry with cultural and spiritual depth – Judaica jewelry, Jewish symbols, Hamsas, Star of David, Chai, Choshen, and more – combined with meticulous attention to quality, precision, and many years of practical experience.

800 Stores – Serving the Israeli Market

Over the years, Israel Gifts has become a key supplier for over 800 stores across Israel – from Safed to Eilat. This isn't just direct sales to the end customer – it's working with the entire system.

The company's clients include gift shops, retail chains, online stores, jewelry designers, souvenir shops, employee committees and organizations, wholesalers, and importers. Each client with different needs, different requirements – and all receive one product: quality, originality, and meaning.

Working with Designers and Companies Worldwide

What distinguishes Shahar beyond the large catalog is the experience he has gained working with designers and companies from around the world. Over the years, he has developed and manufactured collections and jewelry for dozens of companies and designers from Israel, the United States, France, the United Kingdom, Germany, the Netherlands, Iceland, and other countries.

This means that when a designer in Paris wants to produce a piece of jewelry with a Jewish element, or when a company in New York wants a collection of Judaica for the American market – Shahar is the one who can take the idea from the initial stage to the finished product. Design, prototype, commercial production, distribution – all under one roof.

Supporting Israeli Artists

Shahar and Israel Gifts are proud to support Israeli artists and creators. They believe in local creation, handmade work, and strengthening small businesses in Israel. Therefore, the website also features unique collections by leading artists such as Yair Emanuel andDorit Klein – each with a unique style and a rich world of creation.

Full Transparency – Real Photos and Videos

One of the things that distinguishes Israel Gifts is its commitment to full transparency. Shahar understands that it's difficult to know what a piece of jewelry looks like from a static photo alone, which sometimes undergoes excessive editing. Therefore, Israel Gifts ensures high-quality and authentic photos, short HD videos, and no Photoshop or excessive editing.

The goal is one: that you see the product as it truly is – and feel complete confidence in your purchase.

Connecting Jewelry to Faith

"Connecting jewelry to faith" – this is not a marketing slogan. It truly is the philosophy that guides Shahar in his design. When he sits down to design a Hamsa necklace, he doesn't just think about the shape – he thinks about the person who will wear it. What do they feel? What are they looking for? What will move them?

When he designs a Choshen (breastplate) jewelry with 12 stones representing the 12 tribes, he thinks about the connection to thousands of years of Jewish history. When he designs a Jerusalem Stone necklace, he thinks about Jerusalem and those Jews in the diaspora who dreamed of it. Each piece of jewelry is a chapter in a larger story.
